February 2011 News from Mark Nelson...

"Little Jazz did it again.  No, I am not referring to the fact that she keeps growing with confidence with each Prelim coarse she completes.  I am referring to the fact that yet again she got  a 33 in dressage.  It seems to be her lucky number lately.  I suppose that if you must have a lucky dressage number it is not a bad one to have.
Starting off with a nice test definitely put this event off to a good start.  This time we followed that with a unforgiving stadium coarse.  I say that because if you turned too tight or not enough you found yourself off the correct lines and ended up with a rail.  Unfortunately we did this twice.  Not a great show jump but on the day a respectable showing compared to the carnage that was going on around us.  Yes, there were rails falling everywhere, they even had to bring out the relief ring crew at one point just to keep up.
Then yesterday we embarked upon the cross country.  A slightly long and bigger coarse than last week.  There were more big tables and turning questions, definitely not as flowing a course.  But even that was no match for our little Michael Jordan.  She grew with confidence and skill this week far surpassing what I expected to gain in only one weeks time.
She finished 6th, amongst some tough competitors, so I was very pleased with this result and am looking forward to our next outing in two weeks."

...and Linda Robert...

(Linda and Holy Rose are currently training with Belinda Trussell at Oakcrest Farm in Ontario)

"'Holly' wouldn't eat the first week she arrived, but is now doing very well. She's had a little growth spurt that has made the canter a little less balanced, but the trot has improved a lot, so we're learning a lot and polishing different movements. It's so inspiring to watch Belinda ride Anton, and we are very excited - and a bit nervous! - that Christilot (Boylen) arrives next week. I love, love, love the saddle!"

"...thank you for your sponsorship of the Cornerstone Spring Into Dressage show. My horse, Corrigan, ridden by Tom Dvorak, won the CDI Advanced Division that you so generously sponsored. Again, thank you so much for your generosity. It is quite expensive to sponsor an Advanced horse and rider, and the sponsorship funds certainly help." (Karen)
